Not at all! Our sushi making classes are designed for complete beginners. Our friendly, English-speaking instructors guide you through every step — from preparing sushi rice to shaping nigiri and rolling maki. Most of our guests have never made sushi before, and everyone leaves with beautiful creations.

Absolutely! We offer vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-free options. We also have a dedicated Vegan Sushi Workshop with a 100% plant-based menu. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking, and we'll prepare suitable alternatives. Common accommodations include gluten-free soy sauce, no-raw-fish options, and shellfish-free ingredients.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your class — no questions asked. Cancellations within 24 hours are subject to a 100% cancellation fee. No-shows are non-refundable. We understand travel plans can change, so we try to be as flexible as possible. Contact us if you need to reschedule.

We have excellent access from multiple stations! Tobu Skytree Line Asakusa Station North Exit: 30 seconds on foot. Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Asakusa Station Exit 7: 2-minute walk. Toei Asakusa Line Asakusa Station Exit A5: 5-minute walk. Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station: 9-minute walk. We're also just 5 minutes from Senso-ji Temple and Kaminarimon Gate. Our studio is uniquely situated right under the railway tracks. Detailed directions with a map are sent with your booking confirmation.

Comfortable casual clothing is perfect. We recommend sleeves that can be rolled up, as you'll be working with rice and ingredients. Avoid loose jewelry or dangling sleeves. There's no dress code — just come ready to have fun!

Yes! Children aged 4 and above can participate in our regular classes. Children under 4 are welcome to come along and share with a parent. For families, we offer a dedicated Family Sushi Making Class (private, 90-120 min) with child-safe utensils, kid-friendly toppings, and a no-raw-fish option. Strollers are welcome — please let us know in advance so we can prepare.

We don't have dedicated parking, but there are several coin parking lots within a 3-minute walk. We recommend taking the train — Asakusa Station is just 5 minutes on foot. If you're driving, we can suggest nearby parking options when you book.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your class starts. This gives you time to store your belongings, wash your hands, and settle in. If you arrive early, the Asakusa area has plenty to explore — Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Street are right around the corner!

In our signature Sushi Making Class, you'll learn to make nigiri sushi and maki rolls using fresh ingredients. The class also includes a sake tasting ceremony and a matcha experience where you whisk your own bowl of matcha. You'll eat everything you create! Each person typically makes 8-10 pieces of sushi.

Our signature Sushi Making Class is approximately 90 minutes. The Vegan Sushi Workshop and Onigiri Morning Class are 60 minutes each. The Family Class runs 90-120 minutes depending on your group. All classes include the full experience — no rushing!

Our signature class has a maximum of 20 guests to keep things fun and interactive while ensuring personal attention. Private classes (Omakase, Family, Vegan) are limited to 6-8 guests for an intimate experience. We never overbook — the number listed is the true maximum.

Yes! All our classes are fully conducted in English by fluent instructors. You won't miss a thing. We also have bilingual Japanese-English staff available. If you need support in another language, you're welcome to bring a private guide or interpreter.

Of course — that's the best part! You'll sit down and enjoy all the sushi you made during the class. It's a real meal, not just a tasting. Combined with the sake ceremony and matcha, it makes for a full, satisfying experience.

While we are not halal-certified, we can prepare sushi without pork, alcohol in ingredients, or other specific items upon request. Our Vegan Sushi Workshop is naturally free from animal products. Please contact us before booking to discuss your specific requirements, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Yes, we take allergies seriously. Common accommodations include shellfish-free, egg-free, and gluten-free options (we have gluten-free soy sauce). Please list all allergies when booking so our chef can prepare safe alternatives. If you have severe allergies, please contact us directly to discuss.

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) through our online booking system. Payment is made at the time of booking. For private classes and special arrangements, bank transfer is also available. We do not accept cash payments for advance bookings.

Absolutely! We offer several private options: the Premium Omakase Experience (up to 8 guests, ¥200,000), Family Sushi Making Class (4-8 guests, ¥25,000), and Vegan Sushi Workshop (up to 8 guests). Private classes give you exclusive use of the studio with a customized experience. Contact us for corporate team-building events as well.

Yes, you can reschedule free of charge as long as you notify us at least 24 hours before your original class time. Just email us at info@sushi-matcha.com or contact us through our website. We'll help you find a new date that works.

Absolutely — we encourage it! Capture your sushi-making moments, film the sake ceremony, and snap a photo with your finished creations. Our instructors are happy to take group photos too. It's all part of the experience. Just be mindful of other guests in group classes.

Yes! We have luggage storage space at our studio, so feel free to bring your suitcases. Many guests visit us on their way to or from the airport, or before hotel check-in. Stroller storage is also available for families.

Yes! Our Onigiri Morning Class starts as early as 6:00 AM — perfect for jet-lagged travelers who are already awake. It's a great way to start your day with a hands-on Japanese breakfast experience. Our studio is open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Our studio is located at ground level with step-free access, making it accessible for wheelchair users and guests with mobility needs. Please let us know when booking so we can prepare the best setup for you. Contact us if you have any specific accessibility questions.

Definitely! Many of our guests come solo and it's a wonderful way to meet fellow travelers from around the world. Our group classes (max 20 guests) have a friendly, social atmosphere. Making sushi alongside travelers from different countries is one of the things our solo guests love most about the experience.
